With the new version of the multiplus 2, I was under the impression that you could program it to use battery to a certain state of charge? Is this correct? And is this even when the grid is not available?

Hi @Dylan
This is correct, you can program it with assistants to work as you want it to.
So is there a special assistant i need to load to do this. Can it be loaded with the ESS assistant I have.
You can use relay assistants, or the 'generator start/stop assistant'
I am not aware of a specific guide for what you are trying to do beyond the assistants documentation already linked.
It is covered is some Victron training sessions provided to qualified installers.
You might like to contact one of them for a consultation:
When I program the relay, as shown in the picture. It deativates AC-2 out even if the grid is available. Is there a way to program it to only do this when there is grid failure?
