Is the AC power in to the Multiplus II Bidirectional and if as I suspect it is, is this explicitly written in the documentation anywhere?

Yes it is because they are designed for ESS systems etc, page 40 of the Victron energy product manual tells you it is.
Also it has anti islanding with country approvals to connect and inject back the the grid etc.
Cant seem to see anything on page 40 as regards bidirectional AC input...
Read the rest of the doc 41 though 42.

A few days ago in another thread you said it wasnt Bidirectional, @Sean said it is, I need it in writing from victron for a client that it either is or is not. Thanks
My grid parallel MPII only has one mains connection, its definitely bidirectional- but finding that statement in official Victron documentation might require a lot of worthwhile reading.
The schematics also directly imply that as well, the second being for critical loads.
Do you have critical loads connected?
It is possiable to read this several ways.
The AC in is not being used of used sporadically to top up critical loads
The AC in is always on and is feeding the unit and the grid plus pass through loads.
Etc etc
I don't understand the confusion, every block diagram of a Multi/Quattro (on the front panel of every device) shows that is a bi-directional inverter.
If it was not than it would either be a charger or an inverter.
I dont think there is any confusion on it beining a bidirectional inverter just the AC input being bidirectional...
Obviously the mains charges battries and the battries backup AC out.
Why is there no mention of AC in.
Victron seem seriously short on decent documentation that isnt contradictory...
Searching ESS Live reveals lots of mentions of the bidirectional function.

But no mention of bidirectional AC in, just bidirectional Inverter which is fairly obvious by definition of it being a UPS
Only when you configure it to do so it will send power back to the AC-in connection.
But as you seem to mention you're an installer, I suggest following Victrons excellent training days asap, there you'll learn more than is available online.
