Smart Shunt - Which device is the right one?

Hello to all,

I am wondering which variant of the Smart Stunt (500, 1000, 2000) is right for me.

I have the main battery on one side (2x 170Ah in parallel) and the starter battery (1x 170Ah) on the other side.

So I will do the circuit as in 3.4.1 of the installation instructions.

I am now wondering, is the Smart Stunt 500 enough?

What else is the selection based on?

...according to the charger?

It will be a Blue Smart IP22.

...what else does it depend on?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Regards

Jens

What is the max charge/discharge rate your batteries will be exposed to....

The number (500, 1000 or 2000) is the maximum current the shunt can carry.
For most systems the 500A shunt is enough.

500A at 12V = 6.000W
(12.000W at 24V and 24.000W at 48V)

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I guess that 500A should be enough.

Dear Matthias,

I take the chance to ask you for a little help.

I have 4 Gel batteries 12V 250Ah each. They are mounted in serial of two parallel sets that results in a bank of 24V. I guess in the end it is 24V 500Ah. Right?

If that's correct, which smart shunt I should use? a 500, 1000 or 2000?

Thanks.
