Carlo Gavazzi EM340 EnergyMeter not detected.

! am trying to configure my Victron solar system to ESS.

I have installed a Carlo Gavazzi EM340-DIN.AV2.3.X.S1.PF B energy meter in my house in Norway. The grid is 230V IT (3 phase / 3 wire + gnd, no neutral). See system schematic.

Solar install _3 systems 2024.pdf

I can communicate with the meter using USB to Serial RS485 and the Carlo Gavazzi UCS 7 - Universal Configuration Software from my Windows laptop (see screenshot).em340-comms2.jpgem340-comms1.png

It is not detected as a Carlo Gavazzi meter over RS485. Nor is it recognized as a Modbus TCP device in Victron Connect.

The Victron Inverter is conneted to Phase 1 and 3.

I Have a grid-tied inverter on PHase 2 and 3, and another grid-tied inverter on phase 1 and 2.

I need some help to figure out why it does not show up on Victron Connect.

I am having a similar issue with a 3 phase Carlo Gavazzi meter, which has worked for years without an issue but the Venus GX no longer seems to 'see'. I am using the meter, cable/RS485 connector and GX, which are all supplied by Victron.

I do not have and oem Victron Serial adapter. I bought 2 different adapters that is tested fine on an Off-Grid Garage video on Youtube. They do not work on my system. URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6qz5ZIKzTA&pp=ygUJcnM0ODUgdXNi

you dont have to have the victron version, they are cheaper to get from other brands, but as far as i know it needs to have the FTDI chip in it

I had also some crazy effects using non-isolated RS485-USB converters. By connecting to the USC software on your laptop, you have only one device, connecting to the GX device, you might have ground-shifts and other issues that might result in this problem.

I have tried two different ftdi adapters with no result. The last one had a shielded wire but made no difference. I decided to order Victron adapter to see if that can reslove it.

By the way; all non supported adapters will connect my Daly BMS to VictronConnect without problems.

Raspberry PI 3b with latest Venus OS. All usb adapters (4 ea.) are connected directly to the PI.

PS. I am still waiting for the Victron approved adapter.
