feed-in excess Multiplus 2 wear

Hello,

I would like to know approximatly the difference of wear if I send to grid the full excess of sun

instead of only compensate home comsuption (means max 2200w, instead of 200w)

My installation is a MPPT 250/60 and a Multiplus 2 3000/48 and Pylontech US3000

The Multiplus is used in ESS mode with Curent sensor with only AC IN connected

I whant to charge an Electric car without consumming on the battery, mean connect the Car charger before the Sensor of the multiplus

So I need to send all the excess (at least 1800W) of sun to the grid to use the charger with the sun

What I heard about PV converters life is :

Main inverters life max is about 10-15 years

Micro inverters life max is about 15-20 years

Multiplus life max is about 20 years (some people say more if it's used well ??)

Thanks

Maxime

Hello nickdb

I have only one installed

If I understand you mean no matter if I limit or not injection in grid about the lifetime of the Multiplus, I wondered his life was more than 10 year, I'am ok about the 20 years is too much but some people in autonomy mode can reach arround that

I'am not expecting this but at least a life between main inverter and micro inverters

For the moment I'am only injecting in the house, so 50W-100W idle and 1500W from battery or 2200W from solar when dishwasing / cothwasing... for exemple

If I set 1800W feed-in excess, it will be in nices days few hours per day at this power

I'am agree about temperature, but I don't know even if temperature is "ok", I think mainly the transistors and capacitors will wear faster because they are more solicited

Don't worry about using it to its design spec, you won't damage it. There are many built in protections.

We run them in a hot climate in demanding conditions and they hold up well.

There are no guarantees, and it often is affected by temperature.

All components wear.

Victron offer up to 10-years of (optional) warranty, so that is an indication.

Personally anything beyond that would be a bonus, and I would be replacing my own by then as the batteries are likely to be tired, and parts may be an issue.

If you have a parallel set, replacing one will be an issue, as a new unit may not play well with the other.

They are designed to work and if used in their spec should serve you well.

You are more likely to run out of ability to use new features, software etc long before that, but I wouldn't have an expectation of 20 years.
