MultiPlus II unable to upload remote configuration file

Hi I am following the Victron steps to update the firmware in my MultiPlus II 48/8000 inverter via the VRM console. I have made it through all the steps including where a file is downloaded to my system.

I have VE Configure 3 installed and the latest version. I open the downloaded file that the VRM firmware tool created,

remotefile.jpg

And the tool does the convertion as stated by the step through guide:

"At this moment the first stage is complete. Next you’ll need to open the provided file in VE.Bus System Configurator by double clicking it. The settings will automatically be converted to the new firmware version; and a popup will show in case anything needs double checking. When finished, close the Configurator, it will prompt to store the file."

When closing the VE Configuration tool you are prompted to save a new remove configure file so I did that see above file with merged.rvms.

I then went up a level in the VRM as suggested to the Remote VE Configure and choose upload:

remoteveconfigure.jpg

I chose the newly converted file with the merged.rvms ending. and the configuration starts. but a short way in a get the following error:

fileopenerror.jpg

The VE Configurationn tool is closed and the file is not open as far as I can see?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting this file to upload?

Kind regards

Duncan

@Duncan.Gardiner

I assume your firmware update over VRM.was successful?

Download a new copy from the installation edit that. Then re upload.

Hi @Alexandra, you are correct the firmware update was ok, and yes I could download and then reconfigure the new format file. the need to redo the configuration from scratch is becuase the firmware update resets the config back to the default values.

So this appraoch is a whole lot of work unless you have saved all the configurations (including the ESS assistant I have installed) as notes or screen shots. Otherwise it would means a lengthy session re-reading the Multipluss manual to understand what each configuration value is and working out the correct settings for my batteries.

Fortunately I had taken screen shots of the origanal configuration before starting this firmware update, incase this was going to be the fall back appraoch.

The firmware documentation clealy states the process saves the current config and VE Configure 3 converts that to a newer file version you can just upload to prevent this exact extra effort. Its a shame that does not actually work.

Thanks for your comment however as this is what fixed my issue.

Kind regards

Duncan

Understood. Sometimes there is a glitch in the matrix.... You know that - hence the fallback notes...

I usually download the file myself before update, then update and use the previous (my downloaded version) if needed. But then experience...
