I've found a good source for tri rated cable at a good price, it looks to be the same type of cable for inverters and battery connections, but is it? Will it be suitable for the 48v side of my up coming installation?

Tri-Rated Cables are usually OK, but as mentioned before, they are only 0,75mm2.
Usually in Europe called H07V-K, H07V2-K (higher Temperature, +90C instead of +70C) or H07Z-K (halogen free).
The meaning of the ending is
-U rigid singel stranded (not recommended for our use)
-K flexible multi stranded (standard)
-F flexible multi FINE stranded (very flexible)
Keep in mind, that in Small Voltage Systems up to 60V you should limit the current over the wires to 4A/mm2 (if the wire is longer then 4m) du to the losses.
I use https://www.electriccable.co.uk/ these people, good stock of tri rated cable, but also H07 which is fine stranded for invertor connections etc. They also sell RS232 / 485 cable etc.
Most cable you can specify the length with minimum 1m, especially usful for the H07 invertor cables...
