Is there any way to add the standard Multiplus Temp sensor, to the Aux inputs of the Multiplus-II, so that it does temperature compensated charging? Or is it necessary to use the VE.Bus Smart Dongle, as a temp sensor device?

I have a Multi Plus 3000 and the temp. light stays on and invertor will not switch on even when there is no load. Can the temp sensor be faulty. My invertor is 9 years old and it is on my boat. Do I need to replace my invertor or do I need a new temp. sensor.
