My power supply setup for my trail camera is based on a SmartSolar Charger MPPT 75/10 and a GlobalLink 520.
As soon as the power consumption exceeds about 200 mA, I know that the camera is active.
Based on these triggers, I like to power up a mobile router that enables the image upload from the camera to my FTP server.
As long as there is no activity, the mobile router should be turned off as energy saving is extremely important outdoors.
The below pictures show how the system 'breathes' through the days. If a mobile router is constantly turned on, the uptime of the camera trap system would be negatively affected.

An option to set relay state for a certain period of time would also be useful.
