Types of Multiplus inverter/chargers.

Hello all,

I'm having a hard time figuring out which multiplus 2000va is which on the pictures on this website, also other sellers also mix them up.

There is the old multiplus compact, which I think is the oldest out of the three. It was replaced by the "new multiplus", which is more compact. But is there a 2000va versoin of the "new multiplus"?

Because on the website I see 2 models of the 2000va series, the new multiplus and there is a multiplus with black corners.

https://www.victronenergy.com/inverters-chargers/multiplus-12v-24v-48v-800va-3kva - Multiplus compact

https://www.victronenergy.com/inverters-chargers/multi-500-va - some websites claim there is a 2000va version of this new multiplus, at least they put this photo.

https://www.victronenergy.com/inverters-chargers/multiplus-2000-va - And this, 2000va

What are all the differences between all the above there models because I'm having a hard time understanding.

Thanks for all the support!

There are only 2 versions of the Multiplus 2kVA.

Old Multiplus which is the cube looking one.
Is 3kVA and up. So no 2kVA option.

Multiplus Compact, It looks longer and thinner in pictures.

240V:

MultiPlus C 12/2000/80-30 CMP122200000

MultiPlus C 24/2000/50-30 CMP242200000

120V:

MultiPlus C 12/2000/80-50 120V CMP122200100

MultiPlus C 24/2000/50-50 120V CMP242200100

And the New Multiplus 2kVA which is the one with black conners.

240V:

MultiPlus 12/2000/80-32 PMP122200000

MultiPlus 24/2000/50-32 PMP242200000

120V:

MultiPlus 12/2000/80-50 120V PMP122200100

MultiPlus 24/2000/50-50 120V PMP242200100

If you are looking at buying a new one, I would get the new Multiplus or Multiplus-II not the Multiplus Compact as the new one has more features and will be supported longer. It is also cheaper.

If you would like a 48V unit, you should use a Multiplus-II but you can still get the only Multiplus if needed.
500-1600 will be New Multiplus, 3kVA-5kVA will be Old.
Multiplus-II is 3kVA to 10kVA.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for your answer and clarification!

So to my understanding, just get a new multiplus 12v 2000va, don't buy the old compact or bulky version which is the old one. Is there any other differences other than the size and style of the box between the old bulky and the new style?

Also if I understood correct, 500va - 1600va and 2000va of the multiplus are 2 different units, 500-1600 is a bit more compact, and 2000va is with the black corners, but they are both call new multiplus rights? And is there any other differences between the 1600va small box and 2000va black corner box other than the rated inverter capacity and charging current, and the difference in the box style of course.

Thanks!!

Not really, only difference is that the New 2kVA can only do 3500W peak vs 4000W peak on the old. This isn't a big deal for most applications. Everything else is almost identical.

Yes, the 500va to 1600va are in a compact plastic case with steel back..
2kVA is in a full metal case like the Multiplus-II just smaller.

No, the features of 500va to 2kVA are the same, only difference is the rating.

Is there any hope that Victron will update the 'Old' Mutliplus compact with the new size and components for 120VAC? I can only see options for 230V in the ~2kW size.

Thanks!

The old Design will most likely never be updated.

What inverter are you looking for? I listed the 12v and 24V with 120V output above.

12V is PMP122200100

Hello @shaneyake

is the inverter efficiency on low loads, for example constant running refrigerator of 100W, better on the 500va-1600va than on the 2000va multiplus?
