Sudden Blown in 230 AGM BATTERY

Hi
we have an asset (Dredge) contains 4 AGM 12/230 batteries

We’ve working since 1 year and suddenly batteries were blown (attached)

My inquiry

- How is that happen suddenly !!

- What’s your recommendations for troubleshooting?

Without knowing more about the system, at face value overcharging. or battery bank too small for the system.

Equalisation charge applied? Some banana dropped a spanner and shorted a bunch of terminals? Or installed and used in ambient temperatures that are too high.

They certainly got hot and bad things happened. It may have seemed sudden but has been happening for a while now. Checking a bank once a month for bulging and visual checks, as well at multimeter tests are a must in lead based systems.
