450/100 RS MPPT not opening up with Freedom Won and CCGX

Good day i have 3 x 450/100 RS MPPTs daisychained on canbus. Connected to a CCGX with a 40/32 freedom won.


The MPPTs refuse to deliver power. Although my voltages are way in range. DVCC is forced on as it should be.

MPPTs shows "Bms switched" off. Ive tried numerous things nothing works. Im even running candidate release 2.65/9

Apologies i also disabled DVCC to use the mppts in standalone and still they do not deliver.

Hi @Gerrie,

There are some specific limitations that apply with a Color Control GX, BMS-Can battery (i.e. Freedom Won) and VE.Can MPPTs.

Have you read, and confirmed the correct customised configuration change to the battery communication data rate has been performed by Freedom Won as described here:

In all circumstances, it is now strongly recommended to use the Cerbo GX, which does not require the specific customisations and will work out of the box.

I am using a Cerbo GX and getting EXACTLY the same problem

Did you try them as stand alone?

OP had the problem where they didn't produce as stand alone either (may not have removed bms control as the FW is too old for that feature - this is possible now.)

Other problem was the can bit rates which is also a moot point with a Cerbo since you can set two different speeds.

Thanks for the reply, I did indeed try them as stand alone and got the same result. When there was sunlight the panels worked well but only to supply the load, not charge the battery

So we did a firmware update on both batteries and the agent did some resets using Anydesk. Still didnt work but then did a reset to factory defaults on the Multi RS, and the system is now working. Not sure if I have learned anything

Ah ok. The mppt rs and the Multi RS are two different products.

Often a good reset is the way to go. Glad it is sorted though.
