2 smart shunts, which to use as battery protect ( if at all )

Hello, I have 2 Smart Shunts in my camper :

One for the car AGM battery, one for the 158Ah LiFePo Camper Battery, monitoring and reporting via GXS works great.

Main purpose is to monitor voltage, charge & discharge and finally SOC.

Now I ‚detected‘ that I could define one of the shunts as battery protect of choose automatic or none.

Here my 2 questions :

1) the two shunts have the same name in that screen, so which on is for which battery ?
I could unplug one and chose the remaining one .. but will this order stay after a reboot, new firmware ?

2) does it make any sense at all to define one of these shunts a battery protect ?

My LiFePo does not seem to be DVCC compatible and the car battery is AGM.

Regards

Uwe

What do you mean by "battery protect" ?

The smart shunt can only measure voltage and current. It can't switch on/off loads or charging.

Hi Matthias,

The idea came just because the Shunts are ‚offered‘ is the GSX remote console to be used as battery protection.

Same as DVCC, which is offered to be switched on/off.

I would think the GSX system is ‚clever‘ enough to display these options only, if the ‚offered‘ system are capable to perform this functionality.

But maybe my expectations are a bit too high at this point.
