24V3000VA120 Multiplus configuration using Victron Connect

Using Victron Connect Demo Mode. Setting up Multiplus 24V3000VA120V Inverter Charger. System includes two SOK 12V206ah lithium iron batteries in series and eventually a 100/50 Victron Smart Solar Charge Controller. Off grid application with Honda 3000eu generator and 4 335W PV. In the demo mode I have completed the following setup. Screen shots provided below. I plan to have SOC at 100% but demo limits it to 85%. Note all photos are only for the multiplus. Any input greatly appreciated.255eb4a5-ad72-44a6-b48d-e3b3fd5337d1.jpeg

Hello,

I believe there is a bug here. When I click the box, I can only enter 0, 0.5 and 1.

greetings

Ya I had the same issue. Looks like one can use SOC on multi anyways unless paired with a GX device. Source Pg 20 Victron Connect-VEbus configuration guide.

@GregBain I hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I have two SOK 206Ah batteries as well and I'm also in the middle of trying to setup my Victron 24/2000/50 inverter/charger, a BMV-712, and a 150/45 SCC with those batteries.

Some observations/questions on your Multiplus screenshots/settings:

Inverter tab:

1. The spec sheet for the battery states the "Recommended Low Voltage Disconnect" as 11.2V. Wouldn't this mean that you should use 22.4V and not 22.2V for the "DC input low-showdown"?

Charger tab:

1. The spec sheet states the recommended charge current is 40A and the max is 50A. You have entered 70A. How did you decide on 70A?

2. The spec sheet makes no mention of absorption or float voltage. But I've gotten numbers from SOK with boost and float voltages. Do you know if the boost values apply to the absorption settings?

3. The spec sheet states a recommended charge voltage of 14.6V. Does that mean the absorption voltage on the Multiplus should be 29.2V? You have entered 28.8V. Which is correct?

4. Have you verified that the 3 hour absorption time is correct? I saw another post here stating 3 hours absorption time for 12V. Would that mean that for a 24V setup it should be 6 hours? Any insights on that?

Thanks

Hi RMaddy,

some answers to your question:

1. I went with 22.4V for low voltage disconnect to avoid heavy low triggering this early. Only .2V below sok value and wel above BMS low voltage disconnect. Others on sok Facebook use this value.

Charger

1. max 50amps per battery. So 2 batteries good for 70amps, confirmed with SOK.

2. Yes. Set absorption to boost/bulk -.02 as mentioned in Victron video. So 14.4

3. As above. 14.6-.02=14.4x2=28.8V. Better for battery life.

4. I have changed my absorption times interval to those recommended by BB lithium. Interval 7 days. repeated abs time one hour. Absorption time 1 hour. Based on 30mins per battery.

I also got rid of enable battery monitor as I don’t have a GX device so SOC from multiplus is not very good. I will be using a smart shunt for that.

Hope this helps

Excellent. Thanks.

Inverter

1. Did you mean to say you went with 22.2V as opposed to saying you went with 22.4V?

Charger

2. What video are you referring to? Do you have a link?

4. Is using the BB setting appropriate for SOK? I understand that the two batteries have very different types of cells.

I don't have a GX either but I do have the BMV-712 so my monitoring will be with that.

It has a setting for "Charged Voltage". Any idea what value that should be?

Thanks again. I'm not on Facebook so getting proper numbers for the SOK batteries has been a challenge. This has been very helpful.
