Easy Solar pre purchase informations

Good evening,

I was considering an EasySolar 12/1600/70 for a campervan installation and I had a couple of quesitons:

- Does the easy solar ships with a Color Control GX installed? It looks like that from the pictures (https://www.victronenergy.com/inverters-chargers/easysolar)

- Can I use the EasySolar wih non Victron LiFeP04 batteries and what are the requirements?

- Can I monitor the EasySolar 12/1600/70 (and the attached batteries) from the iOS app using Bluetooth or do I need additional hardware?

- Lastly, is anybody aware if EasySolar II 12/1600/70 is on the way?

Thanks!

The CCGX is only build-in in the 3kVA and 5kVA version.

Yes you can use almost any type of battery, there are no special requirements.
(what battery do you have in mind?)

To monitor the MultiPlus inside the EasySolar you will need a VE.Bus Smart Dongle (and a normal RJ45 UTP cable).

I'm not sure if the MPPT inside is a SmartSolar or a BlueSolar. If it is just the BlueSolar (as mentioned in the datasheet) you will also need a VE.direct Smart Dongle.

It is not allowed to ask for new products.

But I don't think that a 12V EasySolar II is planned for the near future (especially with 1600VA).
The only thing I know is there will be a MultiPlus-II 12/3000 released sometime in 2021.

Mines the 24V, I think otherwise the same.

Also in a van conversion.

Comes with smart/Bluetooth mppt.

The CCGX is connected with RJ45 only, no smart dongle.

On the lithium, be aware you need a BMS as well.

Also be aware that the battery type needs setting twice in the smart solar, once in the mppt controller and once in the inverter/charger.

The other thing I'd say about this is that it's good kit, with two drawbacks. Size and very noisy fan. Fan is on or off. No PWM .

You could go with:

MultiPlus 1600VA

SmartSolar MPPT 100/50

Cerbo GX

This way you miss out on the built in DB of the easysolar, but has the advantage of separate components if there's a failure on one.

I went for EasyPlus 1600VA (i needed the breakers)

SmartSolar 75/15 (it was enough for my panes)

Ve.Bus smart dongle (to manage the EasyPlus)

Everything is currently monitored using Bluetooth but will definitively upgrade to Cerbo GX sometime in the future
