Connect load to charger and LiFePo4 battery.

Hi

I read that the smart chargers can sustain a load connected in parallel to the battery.

The idea is a system with a DC output of 24v/15A that is connected to mains most of the time but that would switch immediately to battery upon disconnection from mains. The battery would be around 100ah @ 24v.

Is this a correct approach?

What sort of extra safety measures would I require?

Just connect the loads to the battery. How charging works: Power always goes to the load first, the excess, if any, charges the battery.

So if you have mains power the majority of the time, your battery will be full, the loads will be powered directly by the charger. and all is well. When mains is cut, battery backs you up.

The only way you would have a problem is if your loads are maxing out your charger, and your loads are 100% continual.
