Ive seen this brought up before but the answers dont really satisfy me with my situation.
I have a 70ah AGM starter battery and Im using the Orion to feed my 350ah lifeopo4 house bank when I choose. It's a short run <8ft between them but I had a problem with tripping a 30amp breaker and 8ga wire getting warm. I switched the wiring out to 4ga and put in a 50a breaker. Much to my surprise the Orion was drawing over 30amps for more than 10mins in 85F ambient temps and 28a after 25mins. The Orion is in a poorly ventilated area also so I was expecting it to derate quickly but I think it would just keep going until it hit my low voltage set point if I didnt interrupt it. Is there any explanation for this?
