canbus broadcasting messages from Quattro

I try to get Quattro inverter/charger information from CANBus communication with a CAN-USB adapter to my pc.

I can receive following two messages. So I assume my hardness works.

e 18ea0000 3 0 ee 0

e 18eeff00 8 0 0 c0 2c 0 82 f0 c0

However I expect more broadcasting messages from Quattro such as AC status, battery status...

How can I get other broadcasting messages?

Thanks in advance.

Are you attempting to read directly from the Quattro?
The Quattro does not communicate with CANBus, it is VE.Bus.

WKirby, Thank you for your answer.

Something I forgot to mention is that we have bought and installed CCGX interface component. So when I test CAN communication, I connect my CAN adapter to the VE.Can port of CCGX with my own harness to match the pin layout.

Since I got above two CAN messages, does that mean VE.Can port of Quattro and CCGX works partially, not fully functional?

I have been reading https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Whitepaper-Data-communication-with-Victron-Energy-products_EN.pdf

It mentioned that on board communication port for Quattro is VE.Bus while it support CAN via interface. Does that mean I need to use an interface hardware connect between Quattro VE.Bus port and my CAN adapter? The only thing close I can find is https://www.victronenergy.com/accessories/ve-bus-to-nmea2000-interface, Any suggestions?

Hi - no need for that interface. The CCGX is sufficient.

see ccgx manual & search for the NMEA2000-out function.

once configured correctly, the CCGX will have one address for itself on the canbus; and two more for the quattro.

Hi mvader, Thank you for advice.

I checked the ccgx manual. I can not get the can-bus page. From main menu, go to Services, then besides Modbus/TCP, MQTT, VRM, there is CAN-bus profile. I can pick a CAN-bus profile. That is as far as I can go. I can not find "send data to VE.Can" option. Any suggestions? My firmware version is v2.11. Do I need update?

Yes - thats the first thing to do. Latest is v2.54 or v2.53.

There are change logs. Search our blog for details in case you want to read them.

all the best,

Once I updated ccgx firmware version from v2.11 to v2.54, I can see "send data to VE.Can" enable option. After I enable it, a lot more messages show up on CAN bus. I am going to digest those message information next. Things look very promising at this moment.

Thank you again, mvader. Your guidance is so much helpful to us.
