Can I split a series feed into 2 x mppts?

Hi I have 2x250 watt panels on my boat roof..(old 36v/8 amp approx.).The only regulator I had before lockdown here in Spain was a 75/15, so I wired them in series through the mppt to my 12 volt battery bank.

I.ve been keeping a close eye on the input volts which climb to about 70/71 max.(it never gets really cold here).

I.ve been seeing a max of 145 watts produced, and around 10 Amps on a good day.

I have been offered another identical regulator here on the river to add to it.

My question is can I split the input feed of 70 ish volts to keep them in series, or do I have to parallel them up?(.i have no way of easily getting good wire or mc4s as i.m in the middle of nowhere).

I.ve not seen it done and don't want to waste time trying if it won't work.

Cheers.Steve.

You can't use one PV array at two MPPTs.
The only thing you can do is to connect one panel to each of the MPPTs.
