Multiplus-II stucked in Passthru

I have single MP-II 5k/48V configured in ESS mode.

Inverter is combined with:

- BMS for Lion batteries connected via CAN-Bus

- Venus-GX connected via VE-Bus

- Smart-meter connected via ModbusTCP at the grid side

- solar PVs are connected via AC-coupled (in parallel) with Fronius 3-phase inverter

All had been working great for weeks until the moment when I switched the inverter off using switch button at the bottom side of the device (II-0-I). Since then, device is in Passthru mode and I'm not able to make it to use batteries again.

There seems to be no way to take it out of that mode.

I tried Restarting all the components including MP-II, CCGX, smart-meter, BMS, etc. etc.

I tried to change different parameters in the configuration.. no help.

I searched for the errors and I could not find any specific except this one which appears short after CCGC is restarted (via menu):

Found in: Settings -> Services -> ModbusTCP

I read the ESS FAQ and I reapplied all checks and assumptions.. no help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

@jaro2k Looks like a comms problems with the bms. Can you see the bms device in the cgx device list? Is the bms powered or has the battery shut down maybe due to low voltage?

Yes, BMS is visible in device list and it looks OK.

I have eliminated the issue related to BMS by turning DVCC off.. no help.

The question is what has changed I assume you checked all the connections, tried a different cable, ensured all the versions of firmware are up to date. so I'd then opt to remove the bms and reinstall. This can be done from the VRM devices screen.

Hello,

I have the exact same problem now :-(

Setup is similar:

- 3phase ESS with MPII 5k

- Pylontech

- EM24

Worked flawlessly for some time now.

Since tonight at about 5am: Passthru Mode only, no way to make the ESS work again.

All power is drawn from the grid, Battery SOC is fine at 68%.

I do NOT see the same Modbus TCP Errors like the original poster of this issue. (jaro2k)

When manually setting the multi to "Inverter only" the power is taken from the battery (so the system basically works), but going back to "On" Mode just makes it set to "Passthru"

Out of sheer desperation I already upgraded everything to the latest version, now running:

- 475 on the Multis

- 2.60~31 on the Cerbo

Please help!

Thanks

Hello @teemischer,

I had found this problem at my setup already two times.

I think you know this but I can really recommend the Q4 in this document, it describe in detail what can cause the passthru. This can help.

Hopefully your system is soon up and proper working again. I am not the real "deep" specialist for this, but if I can help, I will do, so don't hesitate to ask.
