MPPT 100/50 with 2 x Panasonic Photovoltaic 325W panels

I currently have 3 x 100w panels in parallel going to 1 x 100/50 MPPT controller. I am upgrading to 2 x Panasonic Photovoltaic 325W panels. Do I need to get an additional controller? Thanks in advance. John

@Johnwalton1234, assuming a 12v nominal system, you should be good with your existing controller so long as you're wiring those two panels in parallel to the controller. If you're planning on wiring them in series, I'd like to see the VOC rating of the Panasonics to make sure that you'd be staying well under the 100/50's 100v PV input limit.

This is also operating under the assumption that you're doing away with the 100w panels entirely, or planning to put them on a separate controller.

The VOC voltage is 69.6 and Vmp is 57.6 so I think the safest option is to wire them in parallel. I will be doing away with my 3 x 100w panels. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi John,

You have 12v battery?

If you are retiring your 100w panels, the 100/50 is a good match for your 2 x 325w Panasonics, in parallel.

If you are intending to use your 3 x 100w panels, buy a new 100/20 Smartsolar mppt and hook up the 100w panels to that.
