looking at the lynx Distribution unit for a 24v system but not find much info on the benefits anyone use one shead some light for me thanks

How the Lynx distrubition system works. do you need the Lynx Shunt or could you use a 712 BMV and its shunt? Do i need two Lynx Distrubition units or one Distrubirition and one power, planning the set up of 8 12 v 200a smarts to give a 24v system.
Also is there a maximun length of the positive cables to the Lynx unit ?
