How works the alarm function on the Battery Balancer?

We are applying the battery balancers for the first time. And they are working well. The only thing what is unclear is how the external alarm light and reset button should work. We apply the balancers in a 48V system.

Has the alarm light on the battery balancer the same function as the external alarm? Is a reset button necessary? And When should a customer using the system getting in action after having an alarm on his system?

Kind regards, Frans

I think @M.Lange has answered the question well but as a matter of interest, what leads you to say they are “working well”.

What are you monitoring to reach this conclusion?

Dear Warwick,

Thank you for your reply.

We are measuring the voltage per battery and they are all on the same level. That is why we know the balancers are doing their job.

Dear M.Lange,

Thanks for your reply.

What is not clear to us:

1. The data sheet does not explain the difference between the alarm on the balancer and the one you can install separately.

2. If there is no difference. The alarm on the balancer stops automatically. What is then the use of a reset button?

3. In which situation the customer (user of the system) should get worried about the alarms?

Kind regards,

Frans
