Multi killed my generator?

So.... I have used VEConfig, changed settings one by one as in ‘generator faq’ advice. (Disable UPS, enable dynamic current, weak AC)

Finally got the Victron to accept the generator on weak AC setting..... the generator seemed to overload then shut down.

Now the generator won’t start at all and is misfiring. Has it killed the generator????

What Multi? What generator? Rest of the System?

But I don't think a Multi can kill a generator because the Multi only takes the energy delivered by the generator.

Multiplus II GX 3kw

Generator 720w Clarke perrol

We wanted to connect small generator until we could get bigger one.

Changed all settings accordingly.

The multi seemed to draw too much from the generator, it stopped/cut out. Now it’s not starting at all.

720W is not much. Even if you set the input current limit to the minimum you will overload the generator.

Yes it is low.... but we thought it may work with adjusted settings.

Do you know minimum Watt generator that would work?

The minimum AC input current with the 3kVA MPII GX is 4A.
4A at 230V = 920W -> the generator should at least have a continuous power of 1kW.

Hi WF. If you disable PowerAssist in the Multi there is no lower limit applying to it's input acceptance. Of course then you'd have to be *very* careful how much downstream load you apply to the Multi.

Your genny should have self-protected from overload. Sounds like a warranty return..

Hello

We decided to buy a better generator.
We got 7kw Hyundai...just connected it up.

The Multiplus is showing AC input at 230v 0W, however its still saying 'AC disconnected' - is this because our batteries are full/healthy?

Should it say 'AC diconnected'?

No if AC IN is available and within the acceptable range the Multi should start charging and pass it through to the AC loads.

Take a look at your settings again and try to adjust them.
