My Multiplus 24|800|16 has (AFAIK) one programmable relay. Which option in VEConfig should I use to program it? I assume it's the "primary" one but I'd rather be sure.

If you look at the relay it is labelled.
The primary one is the one that accepts grid. So if that is what you are trying to control then use that.
