MPPT not going onto float when connected to GX Cerbo via VE direct cable.

Hi all,

First of all I'm a newbie at this and I ask for some patience.

I have just finished installing my off-grid system and all voltages etc are working and we're up and running.

I have a MP2 48/5000/70 connected with a MPPT 250/100, 2 x Pylon US5000 and a Cerbo Gx. When the MPPT goes onto absorption (batteries show 100% charged), the absorption orange light stays on and blinks every 3 or 4 seconds and never goes to float.

However, when I disconnect the VE direct cable, it goes onto float after a few seconds without blinking. If I reconnect the cable, again it goes back into absorption after a few seconds with the orange blinking every 3 or 4 seconds.

Your help will be much appreciated.

The BMS is controlling the mppt when it is plugged into the cerbo.

When unplugged, it defaults to its internal control. If you wait you should be getting a #67 error as well.

So what you are seeing is normal.

I am very much assuming you have updated and programmed everything as it should be.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes error #67 comes up. However, system never goes into float. Is this normal? As to your question, I have updated to the latest firmware and did some setting adjustments via the Victron Connect. I'm not sure if there's more that needs to be done, although I have a feeling that there is but I'm not sure what .

Do your batteries go idle?

52v abs and 51v float and everything should be fine. With the comms cable plugged in DVCC (for battery control) is forced on.

If the batteries are sending the signal to stay in absorption then it is fine.

Hi, if you mean that the batteries are 100% SOC, then yes. I will check on it later today as see if they're in idle mode as well as the voltages.

@Alexandra Hi there, system shows 52.4 v on abs mode but never goes into float, ever. I think the batteries are on idle mode, (I haven't found any solid info on this) The run leds blink once every 4 seconds and the other six stay off for a while but all come on (without blinking) for about 8 seconds and then turn off again. Is this normal?

Red light on and sometimes the others blinking -that's the idle blinks on the battery.

The state on the mppt is not really relevant. It is under external control (if you check under network operation)

The batteries usually request 53.2v in the CVL. Then zero amps CCL when full.
