BMS 12/200 to Existing Inverter Charger

Hello,

Need some help I have an existing Promariner Combi 2000 PS Inverter charger. I have to replace my house AGMs that were charged and used for inverting power. It looks like I may be able to add it to the System Plus port of the 12/200 BMS. Does anyone know if it is ok and if so how it will function? I spoke with my dealer but he wasn't totally sure.

Thanks

Chris

The manual states that you can connect an inverter/charger to the system port as long as the loads will be less than 200A continuous. The BMS will disconnect the DC power to the inverter if there is a problem to protect the battery, is your device OK with this. Tje BMS does not control charge so your inverter/charger needs to be able to be configured for Victron Smart Lithium batteries, details in the battery manual.

Thanks for the reply. I did read that.. Given it is an inverter charger will it also disconnect the port to protect against over charge? Is it two way? As for the chargerer there is a profile that is off by a 10th of a volt (Lower) for float I believe it is a Gel profile. Not sure what the impact of that is. The Inverter charger is a bit unique as it is ignition protected and installed in the engine bay so if I can use it I would like to.

This bit of the manual answers your question, the port works both ways and shuts off on over discharge or over charge.

System+ power port to connect loads and additional chargers

  • The System+ port can be used to either charge or discharge the lithium battery (i.e. via an additional charger, an inverter or inverter/charger connected directly to this port) with a maximum continuous current of 200A in both directions.

  • The BMS interrupts the battery charge/discharge if there is a risk of imminent cell under- or overvoltage or low/high temperature. Charging via System+ is also stopped when set Battery charge limit has been reached. The input will turn on again when the battery voltage is 0.5V below the battery charge limit for 10 (consecutive) seconds.
