BSL batteries balancing slow

Hello, I hope you are well. I am commissioning 11 5000 VA Easysolar systems each with 2 100Ah BSL LifePo4 batteries. You mentioned somewhere they are slow to balance? I have 5 of them running for a few weeks now and still after reaching 100% SOC one or more cells rise to 3.55 VDC and stay there until the MPPTs run low on sun.

Should I just be patient? Many thanks!

Hi, To balance you should indeed keep the batteries charged for a while to balance the cells.

I have read that this can take a while within BSL batteries. But before you try to balance, did you also check if that same cell is also showing an imbalance on discharge? Then it could be a faulty cell. I have read many posts regarding slow balancing within the BSL powerwalls and also bad cells.

Using the push buttons on the unit and write down the cell number with the highest voltage end of charge and lowest end of discharge. If the cell number matches that you likely have a bad cell. Since that same cell number does not hold charge.

I have bought 1 wall mount 200ah installed with Victron and ended up with a bad cell, so at this moment i'm talking with the supplier.

How long they are kept at top of charge can affect the time it takes. They can be reeeeally slow. A combination of very deep discharging and keeping the system on "keep batteries charged" can help accelerate the process.

The Pace BMS these batteries use is fairly mediocre.
