4 digit bluetooth pin code

Hi

I have one of the popular after market Android head units (Junson V1 pro) and tried to install the Victron Connect app but for some reason the Android unit only allows entering a 4 digit pin code for Bluetooth pairing.

I tried changing the pin code to a 4 digit pin code on my Victron units but it is not possible as the minimum pin code length seems to be 6 digits. Why does this limit exist, and is there way to fix this? Most Bluetooth devices seems to use a 4 digit pin code by default which works fine.

Hi @Daniel Nilsson

This limit exists because our products use Bluetooth Low Energy and not Bluetooth BR/EDR (classic) which is used for (most) audio devices. The Bluetooth specification specifies that a Bluetooth Low Energy pincode is always 6 digits long. This is also enforced by the Bluetooth Low Energy software stacks that we use in our products. So there is not much that we can do about it. The only one that can fix this is the maker of the head unit by adding support for 6 digit pincodes.

Kind regards,

I see, no workaround possible on your end then, thank you very much for the clarification, I didn't know that.

Best regards
