Smart BMS 12/200 protecting a smart lithium LifePO4 200Ah
When engine alternator is running, I can see the voltage rise until the point where the BMS cut the input off. The voltage of the cut-off is higher than the expected 14,2 V that is specified by the battery manual and set in the BMS through VictronConnect app. I suppose that this is because the internal balancing device of the battery does use a bit more voltage to balance. Or is it a delay to react ?
Question 1 : Is it OK for the battery to go higher than expected (around 14,8 V) for a short time (~10s) ?
Then a problem : on the output of the BMS there is a Tristar solar charger that was aboard before switching to LifePO. It is set to use a charging scheme of 14,15V absorption and 14,2 equalization. It has a security feature which disconnect the charging if the voltage rise 0,2V more that the equalization voltage. So it shuts off at 14,4 and then does not reconnect until the battery goes down to 13V, meaning it does no longer maintain the battery float state or balancing.
Question 2 : Is there a possibility to prevent the voltage to rise above 14,4V, or should I try to download the Tristar application to set it up with appropriate voltage ?
