it is connected via a UTP cable, with RJ45 on the grid meter side and converted to a USB on the GX side. I just have an installer come to recheck the connections of the cable and all seems good. It did not help.

@Bonie Wanda That sounds to me like a bad connection, either on the RS485 wiring or on the USB side. I had the same issue for a while. It turns out I had too many USB devices on the USB hub. When I plug the RS485toUSB directly into the GX device, issue fixed. I also had an issue where the connection to the ET112 wasn't great causing breaks in the data flow.

As a short term solution, I removed the grid meter form the list of devices but obviously I lost the ability to supply the loads before the Multiplus unit but it did get the Multiplus inverting again until i fixed my wiring.

Its worth noting, sub-standard RS485 to USB devices will give you no end of trouble like the issue you are experiencing. I only use Victron RS485 to USB now for that reason.

I hear you @Jason - UK . I have asked the electrician to source me a solid RS485 to USB cable so that I can eliminate any connection issues. The wires are delicate and easy to break, so we were joining using a chock block. I even did the joint directly but it is not helping. I will put the choch block back.

I need about 20m of RS485 to USB which is why I had to join. They did not have a long one back in the days.

20 meters is possible with good shielded wiring (best is digital signal cable 110ohm) i used to have about 35m in between

  • Venus GX still on 3.3
  • Upgraded the ESS assistant with the MK3;
  • Upgraded the MPPTs from 1.61 to 1.63

Changes later in the afternoon after upgrades and re-enabling External Grid Meter (in ESS menu)

Since upgrading the firmware on the MPPTs yeterday, it seems to be working normal now.

Thank you for your inputs.
