Can a Phoenix 12/50 charger connect to a venusgx via ve.bus?

When I plug in a straight thru, tested, known good cat6 Ethernet cable from the Phoenix 12/50 charger ve.bus port to either of the venusgx ve.bus ports, the Phoenix charger will shut off and repeatedly power cycle.

The Phoenix charger also did this when trying to connect to the mk2-USB for programming as well, but a new Ethernet cable solved that issue.

That same Ethernet cable doesn’t work when trying to connect to the Venus gx.

Is it possible to connect the Phoenix 12/50 charger to a Venus gx?

Hi @Garnet,

I don’t think that your charger is supported, though I haven’t tested it for myself.

Here is a reasonably comprehensive list of Victron products that are supported by GX devices:

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ccgx:start#connecting_victron_products

I think the most relevant part which could lead to some confusion is:

“In order to keep this document short we are going to refer to all Multis, Quattros and Inverters as VE.Bus products.” - that is NOT to mean that all VE.Bus products are compatible with the GX.

4 days and no replies..

Maybe my question was not clear?

Does anyone know how to contact Victron support?

My dealer does not speak the same language as I do.

Communication with them is.....difficult.

Hi Garnet,

Victron has a lot of battery chargers, which model do you have?

And what are you hoping to achieve with a connection to a venus?
