How to measure currents above 65A?

We will be installing a 3x 45 kVA Multiplus/Quattro system at the beginning of next year. The system will also include 3x 32 kVA of PV inverter.

The max current per fase from the PV side is 125 - 130A. The ET340 (along the other listed options) goes to max 65A.

What should or can I do to measure the PV Inverter power? Is is possible to connect 2 or more ET340 on a Cerbo? That would solve the problem.

Hi @davidkester

There used to be a limitation of how many meters gx could use. (I believe it was 2) Not sure if that's been fixed recently or not?

However what brand are the PV inverters? If they're supported witihn the victron system you may not need an external energy meter. ie there may be built in coms between the pv inverter and victron ie Fronius for example has this support.

I can't comment on the ET340 but for the ET112 you can have 2 per RS485 connection as long as you set the address accordingly. You can then have more by adding more USB-RS485 cables and add a USB hub if needed. I am not sure what the upper limit is but I currently run 3 ET112's (1 for Grid and 2 for solar) and that works well.

Use external current transformers.

You can use the new VM-3P75CT, or the existing EM330 / EM530 / ABB B24

  • B24: Three-phase meter, uses Current Transformers. 70mm wide. Ratio configurable, up to 1000A per phase. CTs must be purchased separately. A selection guide for CTs can be found on page 10 of the linked ABB document. Product ID 2CMA100183R1000 Silver

    Use the B24 Silver as a replacement for the EM24 in ESS systems with more than 65A per phase.

If I check te specs, the B24 with CTs is the only one that can be used to measure above 100A?


The VM-3P75CT is up to 80A per phase according to website and rated current 75A according to datasheet.
