DC-DC charger in absorption mode because of incorrect output voltage reading

Output from DC/DC charger says 14.2V so its in absorption mode.

My MPPT solar charge controller, however, showing battery voltage of 12.04V.

I had just changed out faulty connections (because the voltage was too low) and it was working for short period in bulk mode. But now it has this new problem of interpreting the voltage as too high???

How could this be? I've seen other people say maybe its loose connection, but how would it make sense then that voltage be interpreted as too high??

Ok, so I basically found that my wires are too skinny and my crimped connections are too small I guess. I thought 14 awg would be able to handle the 18 amps, but I've seen other people say that it can exceed this by somewhat a significant margin.

I'll get bigger wires.

I'm still confused about why the output voltage would read higher as the crimps burned themselves out. If anyone wants to teach me why that is happening, I'm all ears. Thanks
