Why wire MPPT downstream of disconnect?

Good morning. Our system uses two Lynx distributors with a BMS 500 in between. I'm wondering why Victron advises that we wire the MPPT output and alternator downstream from the BMS? We use the remote on/off switch and sometimes on a sunny day our system lights will flicker from the solar input despite the remote switch being off. Can these be wired to the same distributor as the batteries?

No. Everything other than the batteries gets wired downstream of the BMS, otherwise the BMS cannot manage the batteries.

The lights flickering when you have the batteries turned off via the BMS is expected, since without the batteries connected everything's running on a non-constant source of voltage - that is, the solar charger. It is neither recommended nor wise to shut off the batteries when you're running loads - leave the BMS remote switch in place, let the batteries power your loads, let the chargers charge the batteries.

Is there a way to get the MPPT to stop sending current when the remote on/off switch is in the off position?
