Victron Orion-Tr DC-DC Charger L-H Pins

I just recently installed an Orion-Tr DC-DC 30A charger plus 2 Battle Born 100AHr batteries and after several days at the campsite my new Battle Born Lithiums were dead. My Renogy 2000W Inverter Charger, nor the Victron Orion TR Smart charger would charge the batteries. I couldn't get the Renogy Inverter Charger to work so started looking at the Orion DC-DC Charger. My focus is on the connection to the L & H pins. I currently have an ignition off wire connected to the 'L' pin and nothing to the 'H' pin.

Do I need to put a jumper wire between the 'L' & 'H' terminals for it to start charging????

Did you ever test the Orion to verify it would charge your Lithium Batteries?

What is an ignition "off" wire?

Yes putting the jumper across L-H could help it turn on.

Did you enable engine detection?

Sorry it is an ignition 'ON' wire. It sends 12v when the ignition is turned on. I had the wire the wire in the compartment next to the batteries for the refrigerator. The batteries are Battle Born and are brand new. Not much to test as they were plus 13.5 volts, so this was my first trial. Not pushing out the voltage that the factory default settings for LiFePo4 batteries. Should have 14.20 output volts, but only reading the actual battery voltage 11.5v. I will try changing the settings to enable engine detection. Thanks...

Should be on the H pin. Don't bother bridging.

Your BMS has disconnected the battery. Might not charge as the chargers check for a valid battery before charging.

I think you can get around it by switching to power supply mode for a while, until the battery wakes up.

If you are connected to a battery you must use CHARGER mode not power supply mode. Power supply mode does not control charging current.

You want your ignition wire connected to the H terminal, not the L terminal. Without the jumper, no engine detection doesn't function and should be disabled in this case, or at least adjusted for the voltages you see at the Orion input terminals.

Note that 30 amps will create a significant voltage drop so you need to use large gauge wires from the vehicle battery to the Orion input. (Locate the Orion close to the house battery.)

The low voltage shutdown can also be a cause for shutdown.

Removed the Jumper and connected to Ignition wire back to the H terminal. Changed to from Charger mode to Power Supply mode started charging the batteries and when I got above 12 volts, let the Inverter Charger to finish the charge. I need to validate how to set the charge setting but will do that on another posting. Thanks everyone
