Where to mount the bmv 712 temp sensor for parallel batteries

I have two 12V lithium batteries in parallel and they are physically connected to a post on a bus bar for both the positive and negative sides. Does it matter whether the temp sensor is physically connected to the positive terminal of one of the batteries or can it be connected to the same post on the bus bar? The bus bar is only inches away from the batteries.

To get an accurate temperature reading you really need to connect the temperature sensor directly to one of the batteries positive terminal.

The voltage difference should not be noticeable between these 2 points & it will still capture the average voltage of both batteries.

I second what Mark said. While putting it on the bus would most likely capture the ambient temperature of the compartment, putting it on one of the batteries posts' will also give you the added benefit of making sure your batteries don't get hot in the event of an over voltage or freak short circuit. Consequently, the compartment/bus could warm up considerably faster then your batteries too as they would have a lot more thermal mass then the air surrounding them.
