About to install a victron smartsolar mppt 100/20 into my caravan with a fixed solar panel.
do I need to isolate the solar controller when charging from 240v or charging from the Anderson plug on the car?
or will the controller work it out?
Thanks

Yes, it will be ok to leave it hooked up. Even charging together with another source(s).
It's actually better to leave it hooked up, especially to the panel, so it can register history without losing track of the days.
