VE.bus error #15 when connecting Pylontech US2000C BMS

The system is an AC coupled ESS system and comprises MultiPlus II GX 48 5000/70-50, a current tranformer for the grid input and 3 Pylontech US2000C batteries.

As far as I can see it is all connected up correctly but as soon as I connect the VE.CAN on the MultiPlus to the A/CAN on the master battery I get VE.bus error #15 and the display on the Multiplus also says AC Disconnected.

I also have a low battery voltage warning although the BMS is saying batteries are at 48% and 49.2 Volts.

You might need to connect all together, power up the system, update all the components and program it, then connect the battery can cable. Are you connecting to the BMS can port?

The Multiplus is up to date as far as I am aware.

The batteries have no instructions about updating.

I used the GX version to keep it simple and avoid issues like this, but thanks for the suggestion.

This problem was on the back foot because the Multiplus II was also blowing the 30A breaker seemingly when the batteries went on line.

3 months dealing with the supplier and 5 weeks in the repair shop.

Unit was new, hasn't worked yet.

But ERROR #15 is back and that the unit stays powered it gets even more interesting.

Without batterries on, but fully connected. The display on the unit is monitoring the grid, also displays ESS #3, #4, #5 and is in passthrough mode.

Turn on the batteries, battery state comes up in the widow as well. Then it looses grid monitoring, ERROR #15 comes up as well as ESS Fault.

Turn off the batteries and ERROR #15 goes away, grid monitoring comes back and ESS #3, #4, #5.

ERROR #15 generally seems to be caused by a conflict on the VE Bus. The cure is to remove the conflicting device and/or update to compatible software.

When I powered up the unit again I used the device page to update the software on the unit, both Gateway and VE.Bus system.

Of course I bought the Multiplus GX II to keep it simple as a stand alone AC coupled ESS system, so I have no external connections to the VE.Bus, except when necessary the Mk3 dongle. Can this be left connected?

So any conflict on the VE.Bus must be interanal to the unit, when the BMS is operational!

Or is there some other part that needs a software update, in which case can someone tell me how to do it please?

I hope somebody can help with this, I want to start using it.

Thanks

Trevor

Are you sure you in the VE.Can port not the VE.Bus port?

Is the VE.Can port set to 500kbit/s?

Do you use the correct BMS-Can Type A cable?

Is the battery shown in the device list?

Maybe make some pictures of the system and some more screenshots.

And then with the battery turned off, not disconnected.

I did have to power cycle the Multiplus, it din't seem to recover on it's own or I didn't leave it long enough.

Good morning Trevor

I have exactly the same issue connecting to US2000 battery - error #15. I can see you have moved on, how did you resolve the issue. My problem is identical - even the screen grabs are the same.

Thanks in advance

Neil
