multiplus 5000/24 transfer swich 50 or 100

Good afternoon, I have a technical inquiry buy a Victron Multiplus in 2014 5000/24/120/50 but both in the housing and in the attached serial number of the equipment, it says that it has the transfer switch of 100A internally the chip that carries is the 50 the 2649151.hex. I bought a new quattro 24/8000 and I want to sell the old MultiPlus but it's complicated by that problem, it makes people suspicious. Any explanation? It happens often? Thank you

Hi @Toni1984

2649 indeed indicates 50A. But maybe some were 'special order', and hence the exception given prominence in the serial number.

You could try downloading the settings file and seeing if it will accept the full 100A. Even uploading it to see if it sticks.

151 is pretty old firmware though, if it's never been upgraded. Maybe would help selling it if upgraded to the newest 4xx (5xx), then try setting it to 100A. If that sticks, then that's a special inverter.

Thanks for answering. I had thought about putting the 2614 firmware in it, I was afraid that it might suffer some damage, but I'm going to try it. because what he says makes a lot of sense, that would explain that the serial number was 100, it is currently with firmware version 500.

Just an early example of the marque I think. The HQ indicates 49th week of 2013. An early 26 chip model, and the 100A switch probably standard then and the spec changed later.

I have tried to put the firmware 2614.501 but it won't let me, it tells me that my equipment has 2649. Should I rename the file with the name 2614 to see if it accepts it? Thanks for your interest and help.

I couldn't, I don't know if you can modify the firmware ID in any way. I have spoken with the person in charge of Victron of my country by email and he tells me that if in his serial number he says that it is a 100, it is that it is a 100. But he has not been able to tell me yet because inside he has the hardware or at least the sticker of a 50.

Don't fight it, it is what it is. Looks to be in great condition with little sign of age, not even a cobweb. Ready for many more years of faithful service. With it's 100A switch, bigger than the later ones.

Good afternoon, if I have it very well taken care of.

Today I have responded to the person in charge of Victron in my country, he says the following. You need to convert the old control PCB from 2649 to 2614.

To do this you must contact your distributor, then we can send them the code. We do not send this code to end users.

I work as an installer for a company in my country, but they do not usually touch the Victron systems we work with network inverters. The company that sold me that MultiPlus no longer exists... So I have asked 2 friendly companies to see if they can get it. because they don't want to give it to me... This must be the key that is entered into the VE Flash to modify computers. They made a mistake or at the time it worked that way since mine is a 100A with the BIOS of 2649.

Let's see if I'm lucky and they get me the key to change it, since I have another 6 months younger with which I could put it in parallel in case I can put the BIOS of 2614. I will inform you what happens at the end, thank you for your support.

I am in the exact same scenario as @Toni1984

I have a pair of Multiplus 24/5000/120 that I would like to operate in parralel.

One of them has incorrectly displays as 120-50 in Victron Connect despite the serial number label and enclosure demonstrating that it is a 120-100

pxl-20230903-125025466.jpg

The microprocessor carries the 2649### number while the one displaying correct as a 120-100 has a 2614###

How do I correct this? I need to overwrite the firmware to 2614506 to match the pair.

Hola, me comuniqué con Víctron y me dieron el Código para convertirlo en un 100. Luego pude ponerle el firmware y ponerlo en paralelo.

If the labels say that it is a 100, it means it is a 100, it seems that they were limited at the beginning for some reason that I don't know, maybe when selling them asking for them to be a 100 had an additional cost, I don't know. but any Víctron technician can give you the password, within one of the Víctron programs they give you a key and you need the password. Right now I'm out of the house in a few hours I'll upload screenshots with the steps.

Hi @Toni1984 ,

That would be very helpful thank you.

Unfortunately I am getting entirely contrary information from Victron via my local distributor.
