We have a 2.25kw array with a SMA sunnyboy inverter tied to the grid on a 2012 UK feed in tariff. Most of our excess energy is diverted to our immersion heater via a Solar iBoost, which is great but our water needs are not massive and we feel that a small battery system would make better use of our excess generation, often 2kw a day for 8 months of the year.
Our evening and night time energy use is approx 1kwh for tv/media, fridge, freezer, lights etc so would like to power these loads with an ESS system (possibly a kettle & single 2kw induction hob as well).
Kits in the UK appear to use the Multiplus II with at least 4.8kw/h of batter storage (2x Pylon batteries), which is excessive storage and too expensive for us. Are their any smaller capacity / output ESS options available before I go down the route of considering a freestanding solar generator (Bluetti or Ecoflow) for these small'ish loads? We would much rather have something integrated so that things can be powered around the house instead of just close to the solar generator and we also have Voctron in our VW California, which works great without ever experiencing any faults so want to use it in the home as well if possible.
