Grid Setpoint not working on parallel 2x Multiplus II 3000-48-230-35-32? How can I fix?

c0d764b7-0103-4e1d-a591-cdcb1b8ef38c.pngHi

ESS Grid Setpoint feature not working. Inverters consuming grid unnecessarily, costing me money.

Single-phase:

2x parallel Multiplus II 3000/230/48/35-32 firmware 2629-497, ESS, Venus GX on ver2.89, bluesolar mppt 150/45, bluesolar mppt 150/35, 4x pylontech us3000 min SoC set at 30%.

Installed a parallel inverter 6 days ago and immediately the grid consumption tracks above the grid setpoint. It worked perfectly when I had 1 inverter.

I have redone setup with QuickConfigure and added the assistants on each inverter. This has not helpled.

The problem gets worse when in Power Assist mode via AC-In, even with enough PV Solar and battery, at this stage, grid consumption increases to hundreds.

Please assist with a solution if you have thanks in advance. Haven’t found a solution on the community pages.

Finding the same on a setup with 2 parallel MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-48. I've had to increase from 50W up to ~>120W to prevent supply onto the grid but the grid supply is far more than double.

Think I sussed out the discrepancy when I realised it seemed to be about 3 times the value. Make sure 'Multiphase Regulation' is set to 'individual phase' rather than split across 3 phases. Seems to have settled back closer to the behavior of a single unit under ESS.

@Bonie Wanda

Did you check that each MP-II provides equal power to the loads?

Are they balanced?

Not yet. Can I measure with a current clamp meter?

Yes.

Set the constant load and measure the DC current on both MP-IIs.

Yesterday 1 Oct 2022 we completely re-wired the 2x inverters. Same lengths, same gauge,

  1. AC In cables
  2. AC Out 1 cables
  3. DC cables

We re-configured the Master-Slave setup, re-captured the settings AND re-installed the ESS assistant on 2x inverters.

On 16 Sept 2022 the Venus GX firmware was automatically updated to ver2.90. Thereafter the system was showing funny figures and feeding back to the grid ALTHOUGH this setting is disabled.

After rebooting yesterday 1 Oct 2022, it did the same thing, but settled after a few restarts. Firmware is ver2.91 now.

  1. Incorrect Critical load readings;
  2. Incorrect and/or non-existent AC load readings
  3. Feeding back to grid using battery and PV
  4. Showing funny numbers that don’t add up
