Hi, can anybody tell me if the EM330AV5 Energy meter from Carlo Gavazzi is compatible to Victron. This is apparently the replacement for EM24AV5.
Thanks

What is interesting is that it has backlit display!
EM330 / EM340
• Dimensions: 3 DIN modules
• Installation: DIN-rail
• Backlit touch LCD
• Measurement of voltage, current, power,
power factor and frequency
• Bi-directional energy metering,
3x 8-digit, cl. B (EN50470)
• Measuring inputs
400 to 480 VLL AC, 5(6) A current
input via current transformer (EM330)
208 to 400 VLL AC, 5(65) A (EM340)
• Auxiliary power supply (EM330)
Self powered (EM340)
• Dual tariff management
• Pulse output or RS485 Modbus or M-Bus port
• Sealable terminal covers
• CE, MID (PFA and PFB), cULus (EM330)
Did not find single product page, maybe it's so new that they don't have it.

Does the "M-Bus port" stand for Ethernet with RJ45 connector? RS485 is probably twisted pair.
Nope, it's serial
M-Bus by screw connection. For communication of measured data M-Bus according to EN13757-1 0.3, 2.4, 9.6 kbaud

Victron has confirmed that the unit supported is EM330DINAV53HS1X27
Note “27” at end
Got confirmation from Carlo Gavazzi, the suffix 27 on the part code means :
- Same communication protocol ( measured variables in reading mode in the same registers)
- 0.001 kWh resolution via Modbus RTU
- 3 DIN module
- touch key user interface
- 1 digital input (not for pulse counting)
I assume this means this unit has been designed specifically for Victron and that others will not work.
I’m still trying to find out if other EM330’s can be used in the meantime.
There is an updated datasheet, which lists the compatible CG meters, including EM330, EM340, EM530 and EM540 with model numbers.
Thanks Stefanie, the issue is that there are a number of EM330 models from Carlo but not all of them are supported by Victron.
Note the comment at the bottom of the table: "Selected models are supported. Ask your reseller."
Right now, resellers know nothing about this at all unless they're reading the release notes of Venus OS 2.90~ which is the only version that supports these meters.
In the release notes, we see the following:
Add support for new Carlo Gavazzi EM530 and EM540 meter. Sub-Family X and PFC is supported, part numbers: EM530DINAV53XS1X EM530DINAV53XS1PFC // MID Certification (European Certification) EM540DINAV23XS1X EM540DINAV23XS1PFC // MID Certification (European Certification) <snip> Add support for more CG Energy Meters. These meters count kWh like the ET340, which is unlike the EM24 and unlike most utility meters do. For more info that, see energy meter manuals. It can nevertheless be interesting due to shortages on the EM24. Meter model numbers (note the 27 suffix): EM330DINAV53HS1X27 - November EM330DINAV53HS1PFB27 EM340DINAV23XS1X27 EM340DINAV23XS1PFB27
By way of example, one of the suppliers in the UK which we have been talking to while we try find meters, suggested the EM330DINAV53HS1PFB. However, this model is missing the "27" suffix that Victron advises above we need to look for.
I don't know much about the difference between 3xx and 5xx (you can google this yourself by comparing datasheets straight from CG website) but what I can say is that the 5xx series has some advantages over the EM24, which afaik (because I still haven't gotten my hands on any of them yet) is:
