Inverter overload cutout below stated wattage

I have just installed 1200w VictronConnect inverter in my Campervan. I have 200ah lithium battery and 400w solar. B2b and solar are also controlled by victron kit.

Wife has a hair dryer, two power settings 800w and 1000w

When the wife uses her hair dryer on 1000w it runs perfectly, but when she switches to 800w the inverter throws an overload protection.

Amy idea why?? Seems the wrong way around to me. I have the Bluetooth dongle so can see the power draw from the inverter. It definitely cuts out at 825w but happy to run at 1005w have I got a faulty inverter?

Any advise very welcome

Thank you

I have same problem with 12/1200W inverter (bought in 2021i), when my wife uses her hair dryer on 1000w, the inverter throws an overload protection.

Thanke in advance for any advice.

It’s the hairdryer and to do with how it “reduces” power.

Happens on some appliances, plenty written on the topic here if you do a search. Get a better quality hairdryer or a larger inverter. Hairdryer probably cheaper.

The magic of electronics.

Also.

Its a 1200VA inverter, so around 20% less in actual Watts, give or take (at 25C).

Thanks Nickdb you’re right, it’s a cheap travel hair dryer but I struggled to find a low power decent hair dryer. It’s runs quite happily on full power and the wife gets dry hair faster so it’s not really an issue. I was just concerned that the inverter overloaded at a lower wattage, thanks for your answer, I’m happy now the inverter is working properly.
