I have tody tried to pair my new MPPT 100/20 with my iPhone 5s .
The 12v model did not appear but the MPPT 100/20 48v did. So I clicked on this and it did connect & seem to update firmware but when I use the actual Victron Connect interface there is no data other than voltage and nonsense on the dash board (3W) .
Q1 Have I caused a problem by updating the wrong firm ware ?
Q2 Can I fix this issue?

Was the VictronConnect app up to date as it contains the latest firmwares? Can you do a full reset? Curious as to what you mean by 'nonsense' so a screenshot will be helpful.
VC can only apply the correct software and it is determined by the version bundled with the app.
Later apps may contain newer software.
It may just be that stats were reset by the update.
Also worth checking that your settings persisted.
