Hi,
I have 2.8kW rated generator and want to do welding with inverter welder rated at 4kW. Generator alone struggles to do proper weld. I "upgraded" recently from 2.6kW generator which was turning breaker off after only few sec. Generator does not need much more power to do proper or at least better job.
Can EasySolar 12/1600/70-16 MPPT 100/50 with 3x solar panel 325W
+ 1xBlueSolar MPPT and 2x solar panel 325W connected to battery 12V 200Ah
do the job. Which settings do I need to change.
Your mppt is to slow to react to an instant power draw.
Your genset and inverter charger is going to be to slow to react to the welders instant power draw.
Why did you not ge a 5kva genset?
Assuming you will use this a lot.
Suggest you size for max welder power.
It would be worth considering a second battery and going to a 24 volt system. This will cut battery current by half and help with keeping the system cool and battery life.
Might be worth using lithium batteries, or a string of 2V traction batteries. Otherwise the heavy current on the battery will wear it out very quickly.
You're probably going to be running the generator to supplement the solar side.
Thinking more about this, it probably won't work.
This based on my Easysolar 24/1600/40 which is the 24V unit equivalent to the unit you propose
You'll need to raise the input current limit to max on the inverter.
Issue is that the highest AC circuits in these units have 16A circuit breakers.
If it did give enough AC for you under power assist, you're right on the limit. But would be able to to about 3.6KW(16A at 230V). Max inverter continuous output at 25C is 1300W, so with the generator you should be able to reach 3.6KW.
You really need to design this with a Victron expert. You may find the variable welder load trips the circuit breakers. Could be an expensive failure if you don't.
If it didnt have 16A circuit breaker like Multiplus would it then give 2.8kW + 1.3kW?
What is transfer switch 16A and 30A?
Transfer switch switches between AC input and battery input to inverter. So transfers from AC input to battery driven operation.
