The current multi-phase configuration allows the phase between legs to float, but does not accommodate 0 degrees between legs. I would like to see the Multi/Quatro systems reprogrammed to accommodate this.
Backgrond:
There are a lot of RVs in the US that have 50-amp 120/240 volt shore power connections. To properly accommodate the 120/240 volt shore power, two Multis are configured for 2-phase operation. Some camp sites will provide true 120/240 split phase (legs 180 degrees apart) but others will provide two legs of 120/208 three-phase connection (120 degrees apart). So the Multis are set up for floating phase.
However it is sometimes necessary to use single-leg 30-amp 120 volt shore power. In this case, the RV's hot legs are tied together, placing them in phase (0 degrees). Many posters here have confirmed that this doesn't work.
Currently, it is necessary to reprogram the Multis AND reconnect their AC inputs and outputs for parallel operation. End users can handle a switch to reconfigure the AC input and output wiring, but reprogramming the Multis using VE.Bus System Configurator and VEConfig is generally beyond their level of comfort.
If the system could function with in phase AC input, the power assist provided by the Multis would go a long way to avoiding shore power overloads in RVs with for example two air conditioners.
