BMV712 - UTP vs. flat (silver satin) cable?

The BMV712 datasheet states "The shunt connects to the monitor with a standard RJ12 telephone cable." As a result, we wired our RV for this device with "standard RJ12 telephone cable" -- flat silver satin cable (about 5 meters in length) terminated with RJ12 connectors.

When purchased the battery monitor, I discovered that the box contained UTP cable, which is NOT standard RJ12 telephone cable.

Will this device work with either twisted-pair or flat cable or is the datasheet wrong?

It needs to have all six pins wired pin to pin. It does not necessarily need to have twisted pairs as there are no differential signals.
The cable must not introduce too much resistance otherwise the Voltage measurements will be inaccurate.

Thanks! I was more concerned about noise picked up on flat cable as it is in the general area of the inverter and battery cables, carrying up to 150A. Ideally, the processor in the monitor head low-pass filters, though.
