Big open ended question about a new design.

Sorry if this is too open ended for this forum.

Looking for help designing a new victron system for a boat.

Inputs:

4200 wats of Solar

Wind generator

Diesel generator

(2) 30amp dock lines from shore power.

Batteries:

Lithium-ion Batteries (Most cost effective reliable manufacture recommendation welcome)

Consideration:

Expect global travel. Would like to consider a power converter to convert what ever shore power is available (120 50/60, 220 50/60) to standard 12v marine system. Would of course need a charging system. I have seen several different displays out there for a system like this. Any recommendation for that is appreciated as well.

I am still learning so any resource or suggested design is welcome and greatly appreciated.

Hi @jlanders, welcome to the Community! Please have a look at the Community Guidelines - as noted therein, this really isn't the place for system design.

We'll leave the inquiry up, as there may certainly be some users who can offer you some input, but these questions would be better asked of an authorized Victron distributor near your location who offers design services, or -even better- a Victron-trained and experienced systems installer who can inspect your system and the installation topography, complete a power audit, develop a system schematic, and offer component/design recommendations and assist with the system installation.

Hi @jlanders

It is open-ended, but that's often a good start point for your deliberations. So very general answers..

4200W of solar is a lot (typo?), and feeding that to and from a 12V system will give heartache with even just wire sizing. That's 48V territory, and there are many packaged LiFePO4 batts that might suit at 48V.

12V loads fed with 48>12 V dc converter(s), or even a separate 12V batt bank fed with similar.

Shore power needs galvanic isolation of some type, and perhaps something like this to handle the varying feeds.. https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-Autotransformer-32A-and-100A-EN.pdf

By all means ask specific questions on individual aspects as you home in on your needs..

Thanks @JohnC appreciate the thoughts. It all discovery at the moment, but you raise some very good questions. The transformer link is a great pointer. Much appreciated.
