Will 2 different 120vac phases input to Parallel 120vac multiplus damage the multiplus or just cause an error?

If I have two multipluses programmed in parallel but inadvertently apply two separate input power phases ( 120 to unit 1, a different phased 120 to the second WITHOUT the inputs being tied together will it just fault out or blow up?

What if the same above WITH the outputs tied together?

The master unit should synchronise with its phase and then its backfeed relay closes to allow charging and passthrough.
The slave unit would fail to synchronise with its phase because it is 180° out of phase with what it expects. This unit will reject incoming AC, its backfeed relay will not close and it continues to invert in phase with the master unit.

If the outputs are tied together or not, the outputs should always be in phase as per the configuration of the two units.
Catastrophic events are prevented by the backfeed relay remaining open until both inputs are in phase per parallel configuration.
